Getting Started with SDO

  • Our available appointments offer a fantastic opportunity to spend quality time with our lovable cats. These appointments are separate from our adoption process (see below for more information) and are all about enjoying the company of our feline friends. We’re open BY APPOINTMENT on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to 4 pm. To schedule your cat-loving session, just click on this link!

Please be aware that appointment availability is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances, for which we apologize in advance. Thank you for considering a visit to SDO!

  • Adoption Application: Let’s get things rolling! Begin by filling out our adoption application with accurate and detailed information. We’re eager to get to know you and find the purr-fect match.

Invitation: Get ready for the exciting part! Our dedicated team will carefully review your application and once your application gets the green light, you’ll receive a special email invitation to join us for a 1-hour matchmaking appointment at our facility. This is your chance to meet and mingle with the adorable animals you’re considering for adoption. No need to have a pet picked out in advance—just come ready to connect with some potential new pals!

Home Check: Before finalizing the adoption, we conduct home checks. This is to ensure that your home is a safe and suitable environment for your new pet. It's an important step in ensuring the well-being and safety of both the animal and your family.

Making it Official: After you’ve found your purr-fect match and aced the home check, you’re set to finalize the adoption process. We’ll hand you all the necessary paperwork and guidance to make your furry friend officially yours. It typically takes no more than a week to complete our process once a match is made.

We genuinely appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through this process. We’re excited about the chance to introduce you to our amazing resident cats and get to know you better.

  • Thank you for considering fostering with SDO! Our foster program is a wonderful way to provide temporary care and love to animals in need. Here's how to get started:

Submit an Application: The first step is to submit your foster application which can be located here under “Foster”. This application allows us to learn more about you and your preferences, helping us match you with the right foster pet.

Application Review: Our team will review your application and reach out to you. If you are approved as a foster parent, we'll provide you with all the necessary information to begin your fostering journey.

Foster Supplies: We'll supply you with everything you need to care for your foster pet. We want to make your fostering experience as seamless as possible.

Temporary Care: Your role as a foster parent is to provide temporary care and love to your foster pet. This helps them become adoption-ready and increases their chances of finding a forever home.

Local Fosters: We kindly request that our foster families are local or in close proximity. This ensures convenient access to medical appointments and other necessary support for the animals in your care.

We look forward to welcoming you into our foster family!

  • Absolutely, including SDO (Santé D'Or) in your estate planning is a generous way to support the rescue and its mission for years to come. There are several ways to do this, and it's a thoughtful way to leave a lasting legacy for a cause you care deeply about.

Here's how you can consider including SDO in your estate planning:

Bequest in Your Will: You can specify in your will that a portion of your estate or specific assets should be left to SDO as a charitable bequest. This is a common and straightforward way to support the rescue.

Create an Endowment: You can make a substantial gift that is designated to create an endowment fund for SDO. This endowment can provide ongoing support and financial stability to the organization.

Life Insurance or Retirement Accounts: Designate SDO as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or retirement accounts. This allows you to support the rescue without affecting your current financial situation.

Charitable Trusts: Explore options like charitable remainder trusts or charitable lead trusts, which can provide both a charitable gift and potential financial benefits for you and your heirs.

Your thoughtful consideration of a planned gift to SDO can make a significant impact on the work and the well-being of the animals we serve. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to the rescue's mission.
